Specialist Adult Learning Disability Health Services Good practice guidance
On 31 October 2007 the Department of Health published the Good Practice Guidance on the Commissioning of specialist adult learning disability health services.
The commissioning of specialist health services for people with learning disabilities is an important function of Primary Care Trusts - in partnership with their local authority colleagues.
Recent reports into abuse in Cornwall and Merton and Sutton, have shown that these services are not always very good in some parts of the country. This guidance was written in response to those reports. It is based on best practice from across the country and provides direct help to Commissioners that, if followed, will result in an improved quality of specialist learning disability health services.
